Volkswagens Cabrio convertible has been carried over basically unchanged for 2002. It is again available in three models: GL, GLS, and GLX. All three are powered by a 115-hp transversely mounted four-cylinder coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. A four-speed automatic is available at extra cost. All Cabrios are equipped with front and side-impact airbags, ABS brakes, side-impact door beams, and a roll bar. An AM/FM cassette stereo is standard, with a six-disc CD changer available as a dealer accessory. The GL and GLS models feature a manually operated convertible top, while the GLX receives a power top. The GLX is also equipped with leather upholstery, front fog lamps, and aluminum alloy wheels. Pros: Quality in and out! Excellent safety features. Preppie forever!
Cons: New Beetle has replaced it. Small cup holders
The Bottom Line: A quality convertible with excellent handling and full of standard features. Great warranty too and is transferrable if you purchase a previously owned.

2002 is the final model year for the Volkswagen Cabrio as it is now out of production. Thankfully, I found someone who just traded his in for a new convertible Beetle. It only had 3,700 miles and there is no other option available on this car!!!...

Pros: Styling, Interior roominess, handling and stability (a bit choppy)Mileage, ease of driving, quality materials
Cons: Seat adjustment controls are too quirky, could use some chrome/rubber dress up along "running boards"
The Bottom Line: Newer diesels can run on biodiesel fuels which save money. They are cleaner than ever and very dependable.

Pros: Power, Updated Styling, Option packages
Cons: 2.5L is a new engine
The Bottom Line: If you have been waiting to buy a Beetle or Mini Cooper this is a great new option. Lots of power and great price tag.
