For 1999, the Tacoma pickup truck is manufactured in Fremont, Ca. and is, for the most part, carried over from last year. Some revisions include new paint colors of Natural White, Imperial Jade Mica, Horizon Blue Metallic and Cardinal Red. Standard features include driver and passenger side air bags with passenger side cut-off switch, side impact door beams and on Xtracab models, flip-out rear quarter windows. The Xtracab Limited includes standard cruise control, power door locks and windows, deluxe 4-speaker radio with cassette and aluminum wheels. The optional TRD Off-Road Package is available and includes heavy duty suspension, locking differential, 10.50 x 15 tires and extended fender moldings. Less

For 96, Toyotas Tacoma pickup is provided with a new off-road package that includes a locking rear differential. The new unit is available only on regular-cab 4WD models with a manual transmission. On 2WD models it includes a rear differential locking system, 31-inch tires on alloy wheels, and a tachometer. On 4WD models, Toyota charges a little more, but adds bucket seats, a center console, and 4WDemand, the more sophisticated of Toyotas two 4-wheel-drive systems. Less

I've had my 1999 6 cylinder king cab Toyota Tacoma just short of a year. This little truck can do it all. I've made two 800 mile trips in it, both of which were considerably comfortable rides, at least as well as can be expected in a compact pickup...

Don't go by the picture! Mine looks a lot better. My Toyota Tacoma LX 4x4 Extra cab has 17" wheels and rides higher than the one pictured on this page (looks more like a real truck).
I purchased it used with 35,700 miles in April of 1998...
