a major improvement from my previous Marantz receiver!

Pros: attractive, minimalist design, logical to program,smooth, silky, clear, muscular sound,clear LED display
Cons: reading of manual absolutely required, awkward FM tuning, pricey, remote control a bit odd
The Bottom Line: powerful, uncluttered design, flexible operation with lots of inputs/outputs, includes all major video decoding options and some interesting audio processing options unique to Sony products, tube-like, silky sound

Digital grows up

Pros: Simple signal path, accurate/attractive sound, flexible input/output options, design, adaptable remote, useful menus
Cons: Power rating optimistic, complex setup process, cheap speaker binding posts, uhmm...
The Bottom Line: Uniquely excellent music sound quality in a solid home-theater package with attractive design and a reasonably good interface. Perfect for music lovers who also want to watch movies.
