Sony HC30: MiniDV Compact Camcorder
Date of Review: Aug 20, 2004
The Bottom Line: Definitely a very good buy for Home user. Not much of complications in button etc., Touch screen as well very good look and built - Sony.
I own one old CANON camcorder that I purchased in 1998. I do not have any issues with that, but I wanted to make use of the latest features available in today's camcorders.
Therefore, I started my research. For this I compared features and price. I had to go to my local stores and operate these and evaluate their quality.
Some other brand camcorders claim they have 16X digital zoom, but this was just equal to 10x of Sony. Even I did not think i would end up with a Sony. I also got a very good deal from IBUYDIGITAL, an online store for the cheapest price. See my review

As far as SONY HC30, the camcorder is
1. Very compact
2. Light weight
3. Touch screen, easy to use and easy to navigate menu, user-friendly
4. Better than HC40 (this is a next higher version)
5. Comes with all different I/O options
6. Battery status indicator is very cool feature
7. Can be used to burn your recording onto to a VCD/DVD and also with very good quality.
8. Nice hardware (color, quality of the body, lens etc.,)
9. Can be used with various accessories
10. Self Timer
11. Come with a Remote
12. Image stabilization, Night shot and most other features included.
Definitely it is a good buy.
this is by far the best video camera i have bought to date> the camera is small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. the camera has the ability to work like a still picture digital camera, but the pic's are only about 1 mega pixel. the video from this camera is so easy to transfer from camera to dvd, and the picture quality is perfect. makes my old Hi8 look like a piece of junk.
