nice and inexpensive printer

Photo R 220 is inexpensive printer made by EPSON. This is 6 cartridges basic model. I have spent time comparing all EPSON 6 cartridges photo printers. Top of those is model Photo R340. I did not find beside cosmetic upgrades any quality print improvement. Each higher model has added options to be used more independently from computer. Model R220 is completely dependent on your computer screen. Three buttons on top of the printer are basic to operate this machine. 6 cartridges are making printer very interesting. Big improvement compare to older models is that cartridges are not connected into one piece. When one color is out, you do replace only that cartridge. This saves money. Software is easy to use. Important indicator of ink level is visible on your screen. Printer has variety of settings for printing media. Quality of regular print is equal for inkjet printers. Speed is slower compare to 4 color EPSON C88. Benefit for R220 comes when you change setting to photo or best photo. High-resolution printing has beautiful result for this class of photo printer. Borderless printing is also nice option. If you have older 3.0 megapixels digital camera, 4x6 prints for your family album will look like lab photos. I found printing on DVDs or CDs very easy and handy, with good results. Plastic adapter for this type of printing is necessary to use and easy to operate. Plastic adapter comes whit printer. I would recommend make test print for CD or DVD before you print real one. Accuracy is not always great. Also media for printing on CD or DVD has to be made for inkjet printer. This is important to reach good result. DVD label creator is easy to use program for everyone and is part of software package. If you are looking for home use printer to reach good quality photos and create interesting graphics design for your CDs or DVDs, R220 will be perfect choice.
I am using EPSON R220 with EPSON perfection 3490-photo scanner. Together this works as one piece easy to use copy machine. Also color illustrations and black pencil drawings have professional look.
For it’s value this is excellent printer for people who don’t need speed in printing and print up to letter size frequently. Printer will handle also longer paper than letter size and card stock as well. Use of EPSON and CANON photo paper will give beautiful look to photo prints.
