Author's Review
I purchased the Uniden TRU9488-3 phone package from a new Costco store in Raleigh,NC. The regular price was $120, but Costco had a $30 off coupon, and also gave me two $10 gift cards for taking out a membership and applying for their American Express card, so it was like buying it for $70. This package consists of the TRU9488 corded base with answering system, and three cordless phones.I have used one of the cordless phones at the end of my 200ft. driveway through the woods, and the performance was excellent. It has many features (call waiting, callerID,etc) that I don't subscribe to, but all the features I do use are very good. The voice quality of the base speakerphone leaves a little to be desired, but is very usable, and understandable. The longest conversation I have had was about two hours, but the battery indicator still showed the highest of three levels of charge. Compared to the GE cordless phone/answerer I had before, this is like coming out of a cave into the sunlight. Since Uniden pushes the corded phone as being usable during a power failure, it would have been nice to have the base keypad illuminated.
