Author's Review
NOTE : There is no category for Ortho Books on Epinions, or The Gardening Category. Therefore, I am putting the review here, as that this is the closest category.
I have been using Ortho gardening books for about fifteen years. Ortho makes books which cover many topics. You can find books on how to plant and grow fruit trees, berries, vegetables and lawns, plus much more. I have several that I use for reference.
Ortho books can be found at many hardware stores, as well as Home Base, and Home Club. They are usually a paperback, and have pictures on the covers which depict what the book is about. The titles are plainly written, and the books contain much in the way of tables, graphs, and detailed instructions. I even found an Ortho book on how to lay tiles and linoleum, and used the books as a guide to tile the den in my previous home. I had never laid tile before I read the book.
I am very impressed with the detail that the Ortho books go into. If you are new at gardening, tiling, lawns, or whatever, you can follow the simple instructions in an Ortho book. Even troubleshooting is covered in detail, and sometimes remedies for mistakes are even offered.
I think that the art work, and photographs contained in the books depict the topics well. The detailed instructions are quite easy to understand and to follow. I have never been very good at gardening, but my Ortho book on growing vegetables did enable me to do quite well at a small home garden. I even learned about the different varieties of vegetables, and which ones would do best in my climate area.
I strongly recommend that all potential gardeners take a look at the Ortho series of books. Even children can learn from the detail and simple instructions. The books also can make good research projects for some of those Science Fair projects that kids must do in school these days.
