Pricey but Great Coffee

I read a lot about the Bunn Natural Home Brewer (NHB). When I found a department store closing out the older model NHB for $59 I bought one. The retail for the newer NHBX is about $120.
Others on epinions have written excellent reviews. I am telling about things that mean something to me.
The NHB is made in Canada. It makes 10 cups (6 oz.) total, but you must make at least 4 cups. (Five cups minimum is better. Less than 4 cups results in the water not flowing into the heated water tank and displacing the hot water onto the grinds.
I called the factory about turning the main 800 watt heater off when not using it. It takes 15 minutes for the water to heat if not left on. They said it only costs 3 cents a day to leave the unit on because there is another 44 watt heater in the water tank to help hold the water at 200 degrees. When the temp falls too low a thermostat kicks on the 800 watt heater and bump the water back up to 200 degrees.
There has been a lot written about how hot water must be for proper brewing. I measured the water temp in the carafe and it is 180-185 degrees after brewing. This is 15 degrees above my Krups Aroma Select auto drip.
The thing we like the most is that the heated tank is completely enclosed. There is no steam or sputtering when brewing. Just pour in cold water and 3 minutes later you have 10 cups of hot coffee that is the best tasted. Our Krups shot out so much steam that the wood under our cabinets was starting to crinkle.
