Flawed with no support. Keep looking.

Date of Review:  Nov 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: This is not a robust camera. Consider another brand.
Review: The SD 1000 is a sweet little camera with a less than intuitive interface and fatal flaws in lens synchronization, which Canon refuses to honor in warranty. Don't buy it.

With just over a year with the Canon SD 1000, moderate use and good...

Yet another SD in the family

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2007
The Bottom Line: A good inexpensive choice for a pocket camera, but be aware that some corners have been cut.
Review: The 7-megapixel SD1000 is the least expensive model in the current generation of Canon's popular ultra-compact Elph (Ixus in Europe) digital cameras. Our family already has two cameras in this model line purchased over the last couple of years (an...

Neat but flawed with lens error

Date of Review:  Jun 14, 2008
Review: Plus: A lovely little camera, takes great pics, recommended by Which? magazine BUT it seems to have a design flaw. After a few weeks it started giving intermittent "Lens Error. Restart camera " messages. Then after another week or two it permanently...

Love this camera

Date of Review:  Feb 19, 2008
Review: I bought this to replace a Canon A520 which was REALLY SLOW to get ready for the next shot whether using flash or not. Uses proprietary battery rather than AAs like other Canons but so far so good. I set it to several notches lower than the default...

Good quality digital camera

Date of Review:  Jan 9, 2005
Review: Great good looking camera. It will fit your pocket, so you have every opportunity to take it with you and use it! But poor battery life, when you use your flash it will be dry in just a few shots. Good quality pictures, even with just 2.1...

Canon PowerShot Digital Elph SD1000 7.1-Megapixel Compact Digital Camera

Date of Review:  May 11, 2007
The Bottom Line: I like the new Canon SD1000 a lot. It is compact, nice-looking and capable. Its 7.1-Megapixel resolution, good optics, features and 2.5...
Review: Since I have always liked Canon Digital Elph cameras (e.g. 6-Megapixel SD600 and the 7.1-Megapixel SD800 IS), I had to see how good the new Canon SD1000 is. The SD1000 is a 7.1-Megapixel camera that is less expensive than the SD700 IS or SD800 IS...

Small, but sweet

Date of Review:  Jan 27, 2009
The Bottom Line: Great camera while it lasts. Positives far outweigh all but one negative - which is the dreaded "lens error."
Review: I bought the SD 1000 because I wanted a small point and shoot with good resolution, and enough versatility to meet various needs when carrying it around.  I got it all in this camera.

The body is literally smaller than a cigarette pack, has...

Extremely Disappointed

Date of Review:  Aug 15, 2007
Review: Got an excellent service from S-410 for over 2 years. Then i dropped it and broke its LCD. Hence i started looking for a digital camera. It had to be CANON since it gives best photo quality. I looked at my options and like SD1000 although i did see...

The best small camera

Date of Review:  Sep 27, 2007
Review: Used it for about a week now. I have used more bulkier canons and sonys, and have decided that everywhere carryability is more important than some extra manual features. Ixus 70 has a lot of manual features, though. The picture is very good. I...

Awesome quality compact

Date of Review:  Oct 9, 2007
Review: This compact has to be one of the best I have ever had. Blows away the competition with crisp colours, little purple fringing and good speed. Another well-thought through, well-made, Canon product!!
