I purchased this radio for my wife. Previously she had an alarm that rang loud and had a time light that was so bright, she had do turn it face down during the night. She's also a light sleeper, and would, at times, be disturbed a half hour or so before time to wake, and she would stay awake waiting for the alarm to go off.
This radio/alarm, which I purchased for her over a month ago, has been a godsend. It has a gentle tone from a selection of five nature or chime sounds as well as an option to wake with news.
You should use the "on" button before as you are setting the alarm at night to make sure the volume is set at the right level.
The time light is visible, but not so bright as to distract while you're near sleep.
We don't use this as a dual setting, but apparently you could, using the tone menu for one person and the radio for the other (or using the radio for weekdays, tones for the weekend - or vice versa)or use sounds to sleep, radio to wake, or the reverse.
