Author's Review
When Kenny Chesney isn't 'horsing around' with his buddy Tim McGraw, he's on a cross-country tour with the superstar. Either that, or in the studio cutting his next #1 hit.
Speaking of horsing around, despite Chesney's long career, he only becamse a household name last summer at the infamous 'Buffalo incident' where he, Tim McGraw and McGraw's manager were all arrested after a misunderstanding about a horse following the George Strait Festival date.
That's right. Chesney, although not in the spotlight for his dozen #1 hits, and multiplatnium albums, has been around. And, his greatest hits albums is proof!
His "Greatest Hits" is ina sense his success story. The collecetion showcases his #1 and Top 5 hits to date, plus two re-recordings of past releases and four new cuts.
The CD starts off with a new song that turned out to be yet another #1 hit for the 30-something. "I Lost It" is a song showing the sensitive side of a man, that he can also break down and cry when he is happy or sad. There is one line in the song, while he is proposing, that is just so touching..."My life hung on what that tear meant..."
Next is another new song that had fans bringing dixie cups and champagne backstage at a shoe I attened. "Don't Happen Twice" was an incredibly upbeat and catchy sing-a-long, perfect for it's summer's popularity.
Another new song, co-written by Chesney and Phil Vassar depicts what is was like to fall in love for the first time. When Vassar has a hand in writing, it's a hit!!
With those three new songs, it was clear that Chesney new they would also turn out to be greatest hits. They fit perfectly on this type of album!
A real highlight of the album is a live version of "Back Where I Come From," recorded in Dallas. The song paints a solid picture of life in the country...A clever line from this tune is, "I know who made the moonshine too, back where I come from..."
And of course, we have the greatest hits:
"How Forever Feels"- One of Chesney's biggest hits to date!! This contagious song topped charts for weeks, and is a perfect sing-a-long.
"She Thinks Me Tractor's Sexy"- An unforgettable ditty, awesome for live shows!
"Me and You"- a new wedding classic and tender romantic ballad
"She's Got it All"- This is one of my favorite songs. When I was in radio, I loved to talk over the cool fiddle intro! Very upbeat.
"That's Why I'm Here"- a song about alcholism and how it can be overcome. A very touching story song that indeed hits home for those affected, and those that care.
Also on the CD are big hits "You Had Me From Hello," "When I Close My Eyes," "All I Need to Know" and "Fall in Love (remix)"
This CD is a milestone of Chesney's career. It shows his consistent radio hits throughout the years. And, there is more to come!
It is a must have for Chesney fans, as all the hits are easy to find in one place! And, for new country fans, this is a great mix of ballads and upbeat songs!
Enjoy!
