Author's Review
I bought this album because I think LeAnn's voice is great. Although it obvious that LeAnn has made a habit of being mainly a remake artist she definitely remade these classics with grace and style.
The song list for the album goes as follows:
1.You Light Up My Life--A slow-tempo song with rather difficult vocals that LeAnn sings beautifully.
2.The Rose--The ever-lovely "Some say love..." song. The metaphorical examination of life:love, challenge, and taking chances. This song is a soft-tempo, melodic song. LeAnn does a very nice job with her rendition.
3.Bridge Over Troubled Waters--This is a great song of friendship and hope. Once again, slow tempo, soothing music and great vocals. I think LeAnn provides a very heartfelt performance on this track. This is one for all generations. A classic.
4.I Believe-- "I believe for every drop of rain that falls...a flower grows". VERY inspirational, more up-tempo song. A real feel-good song that can once again bridge the generation gap for her listeners.
5.Ten Thousand Angels Cried--A Christian song. Very dramatic deeply moving song. The music is intense and the lyrics are interesting. LeAnn's voice lends itself well to the dramatic interpretation.
6.Clinging to a Saving Hand--LeAnn goes Southern Gospel on this one...an up-beat song about salvation (once again appealing to the Christian listener).
7.On the Side of Angels--one of my favorites on the album...this song got some radio play. It's the tale of two lovers who, after surviving struggles, find themselves "on the side of angels, after all". This song couldn't have been made better for LeAnn's voice. It's a ballad...just lovely.
8.I Know Who Holds Tomorrow--Another Christian-inspired melodic song.
9.God Bless America-The traditional song done with awesome voice power and enthusiasm. It's great...a feel-good rendition.
10.How Do I Live--This song got a lot of radio play, especially on pop radio. This is a great version of the Con Air theme song done by Trisha Yearwood. "How do I...get through on night without you..."...emotional song. Play it for that special someone.
11.Amazing Grace--The time-honored classic sung a cappella. This one blew me away. For those who say she can't really sing CHECK THIS OUT!Bravo girl.
12.National Anthem--The Star-Spangled Banner sung with dignity. Beautiful job, LeAnn. In a time when people like to mutilate this song, LeAnn molds it just enough to fit her perfectly, without having to rewrite the music.
This is my favorite of her albums because it's such an inspirational mix of upbeat as well as slow-tempo songs that really shows what this girl can do. I think that most easy-listeners and even fans of Christian music can appreciate this album, regardless of whether or not they are fans of LeAnns's.Buy it!
