Great sub-$500 high current receiver

Date of Review:  Aug 15, 2005
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a home theater receiver in the $300-$500 range, you can't go wrong with the Yamaha. It even beats some in the $700-$800 range.
Review: I had one must-have feature when looking for a new home theater receiver: it had to have component video switching WITH component up-conversion. Component up-conversion means that any S-Video or composite inputs are up-converted to component video,...

Yamaha RX-V657: A New A/V Standard for Under $2,000

Date of Review:  Nov 18, 2005
The Bottom Line: You really have to spend more than $2,000 for an A/V pre-amp or an A/V receiver with this sound quality and level of performance. This is a stunningly good product!
Review: Chris Marten gave this unit a very very good review in the current issue of "The Perfect Vision." He has uncovered a real gem here and maybe the audiophile buy of the decade: This is an incredible sounding and incredible performing unit for under...

Yamaha RX-V657 aka Sleeper

Date of Review:  Oct 28, 2005
Review: Overall, I am very pleased with the new Yamaha receiver. I was a little worried that there would be little noticeable difference. WOW was I wrong. I believe this is all do to the YPAO auto setup feature, I believe it was able to equalize the...

Missing the most important YPAO feature!

Date of Review:  Apr 24, 2006
Review: I have a Yamaha 1400 receiver with YPAO in my home theatre and purchased their 657 receiver for my rumpus room because I am amazed by the improvement that YPAO brought to my system.

However the YPAO on the 675 is NOT THE SAME as the YPAO...

A very nice machine

Date of Review:  Oct 30, 2005
Review: Having to unexpectedly replace our now defunct Panasonic SA-HE200, I sat down and looked around, here, amongst other places. Somehow the Yamaha emerged as a winner, and I am glad it did. I am not a professional audiophile, far from that, but my...

Awesome receiver!

Date of Review:  Nov 5, 2005
Review: Initially, I narrowed my search for a sub $500 receiver to Onkyo TX-SR503, the Harman Kardon 335, and the Yamaha RX-V657.

I was able to listen to both the Onkyo and the Harman Karman at Circuit City. Their sound was about the same so I...
