Every secretary's dream

Take Carlie Simon's opening song, "Let the River Run," and a ride across the bay from the bad section of town (hair a la Saturday Night Fever), and the opening of the movie is intriguing. That Sigourney Weaver is a bad executive boss, who fools around and is portrayed as successful sort of in spite of herself, is a good start. This movie is every secretary's dream! A take over attempt and a stock buyout with you in charge and a makeover while you're at it!

Melanie Griffith is believable, if only for the transformation of her disco self into her ultimate '80's investment banker type. The story of getting involved, taking charge, being the heroine, and then dropping back into obscurity is something. But, to succeed with help, and live the life, you can see what happens to powerful people. It's fun to go through this big business story, and see the change that happens. Gum chewing sidekick, slicked back hair on the Wall Street types....it's a fun movie, and the music is great!
