I purchased the Whirlpool along with the matching washer which I really like. It looks great, and after six months it works just fine with no mechanical issues or need for service.
I did not purchase the optional pedestal to raise it up. As such, I do have to stoop down to pick up the clothes and sometimes it is easy to drop some on the floor. Solution: Use a wash room basket to empty the washer and then put the clothes in the dryer. Then, use the same basket to unload the dry clothes. Buying the dryer stand might help in this regard, but for $200 bucks each for the washer and dryer, it is too much. If you decide to spring for the stands, be sure to consider the overall height, especially if you have laundry cabinets about the washer/dryer space.
Sometimes the dryer unexpectedly stops and the light comes on. I have determined that this is the result of me not fully closing the door.
One problem I have heard of but not experienced is a 70 error code which indicates some kind of communication problem between the component electronics and the control electronics. The suggested fix is to disconnect power to the machine for about 30 minutes, reconnect it, and try again. It should resolve the problem.
Equipped with a sensor drying system, this model automatically programs drying times and works overtime to prevent shrinkage and fiber damage. I have occasionally noticed that the drying remaining time is not always accurate. One time recently it read that it had seven minutes to go. Five minutes later...still read seven minutes to go. Not sure why. The load did finish after about 13 minutes.
While I like the model overall, I think it is a little on the pricey side for a dryer. I suspect that Whirlpool knows that if they can sell you on the washer, they can sell you on the dryer otherwise it won't look right.
Whirlpool does have a free shoe rack available for the asking. While I like free, I find it a little annoying that for a dryer at this price, I have to go through the trouble of ordering the rack.
Make sure to clean the lint trap frequently as it does fill up quickly.
This model I believe is assembled in the USA (rather than Mexico). The washer is assembled in Germany.
