Alan Moore's Watchmen: The Story that Changed Comic Books Forever

Date of Review:  Jun 18, 2007
The Bottom Line: If you have absolutely any interest in comic books as a genre, this is like...the comic book version of The Lord of the Rings (my version of ultimate praise).
Review: Travel back in time with me to 1985. Tricky Dick was still president--during his fifth term of office. The Soviets were on the verge of invading Afghanistan and Western Europe, held in check only by the world's one true superhero, the naked,...

Even in the face of Armageddon

Date of Review:  Mar 26, 2000
Review: There would be no Vertigo if it weren't for "The Watchmen." Yes, we probably still have Sandman and such, but I doubt it would be the same.

Alan Moore's "Watchmen" is perhaps the most astute series ever put down in the comic format. Written...

Moore than just a comic

Date of Review:  Jul 20, 2000
Review: Alan Moore has out done himself with this one. Watchmen is the book, which turned the comics industry on its head.

With Watchmen Moore questions the entire American mythology of the costumed superhero. He asks all the evil little questions...

And They Lived Happily Ever After...

Date of Review:  May 12, 2000
Review: As Kurt_H has reviewed well the many subtleties in Moore's Watchmen, I thought I'd share some of my personal observation and, hence, attraction to what many consider to be the best comic ever written, at least as far as the superhero genre goes.

Who Watches the Watchmen

Date of Review:  Nov 24, 2009
It's Good For: Adults
Review: Witness the deconstruction of the graphic novel as Alan Moore envisions a group of superheroes plagued by human frailties.  A thought provoking story that does more than entertain.
