Author's Review
So, you say you want a great haircut like mine, do you? Well, if you want to look as good as me, I suggest you meet my personal barber: Me. In all honesty, I actually do very little; most of the work is done by this Wahl. You too could have great hair like mine with this tool in your hand. Finally, my secret is out, and your dreams of great hair can come true!
This isn't my first hair clipper. I have tried various clippers in the past. My hair grows very thick, and a common problem I encountered was with the clippers binding and pulling my hair. What a painful experience! I tossed those clippers in the garbage. You see, the problem with most clippers is the fact that they tend to have a weak motor. Not this one. No siree, these clippers have a very powerful motor, combined with very good blades allowing me to mow down that new growth of hair without hesitation.
To make the life of a DIY barber easier, these clippers come with an assortment of attachments which are called guides. This helps you in preventing you from cutting a bald spot on your head. These guides (8 of them) range from an inch to 1/8 of an inch, or from #8 to #1. For hair that looks as good as mine, you'll only want to use #1. The rest are for wussies. Along with these are the left and right ear taper guides; I'd imagine you'd want to use these if you're a wussy and want to use, say, #8 for the rest of your hair. As far as I'm concerned, the only one that matters is #1. I should note that unlike guides I've had on Lesser clippers in the past, these ones are very durable and unlikely to break.
Let's see here...we also have a couple of combs which are of no use to me, along with some scissors which, while I couldn't test on my hair, did a decent job of trimming my fingernails. There's also a big folded plastic Bib which ties around your neck, in case you don't want to get hair on yourself. It's the same consistency as a cheap garbage bag, so I wouldn't expect that to last. Not that I need it anyway. Then there's a brush for brushing off the hairs off your neck. Another brush is included to clean the blades. The included bottle of electric clipper oil is obscenely small. Here's a tip: It's just mineral oil. Save yourself some bucks and pick up a bottle of mineral oil to use to oil the blades before each use once you've used up the minuscule amount that's included. Oh, and there's some instructions to tell you how to cut hair (not necessary for a great cut like mine), a warning about using Wahl's oil (again, mineral oil is exactly what it is), a one year Guarantee card, and a WAHL blade sharpening form.
One feature of these clippers is the fact that there's a detail trimmer included right on the clippers! This is very important for a great haircut like mine. Flip the detail trimmer so it fits over the clippers and clean up the back of the neck for that really great haircut look. In my testing, it worked pretty good for what it was. It's not cordless, but the cord is 7 feet long. It's probably better that it's corded anyway; it has a very powerful motor that would probably kill batteries. It has a plastic case to keep everything together.
Well, there you go. My secret to my great hair is now out in the open. I give these clippers a high rating simply because they do such a great job: They'll mow down my thick hair in a single swift pass. No binding, no pulling. I don't care about all the frills and attachments. As clippers, these are the king. I've been using them over over a year now on both me and my son, which attests to the fact that they are durable and will last a long time.
