Product Review

Looks cool but that's about it.

by   curli5 ,   Jan 30, 2008

Pros:  Looks cool.

Cons:  Caller ID doesn't give the #1 for long distance as an option to call back.

The Bottom Line:  I do not recommend this phone because of the caller ID not giving the #1 as an option to redial a number.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

When my husband and I were in Target shopping one night I remembered that we needed a new cordless phone. I love buying new electronic stuff. So I was like a kid in a candy store looking for my new purchase. As soon as I saw this phone I knew I had to have it. Of course my husband lets me choose because he doesn't really care.

The phone I purchased was about $89 at Target. I thought what a great deal. I bought the base and one extension phone. It came together as one box.

As soon as I got home that night I charged the phone. The next day I started using it. OH MY! What a nightmare. I soon realized that I might have made a mistake.

Problem #1: When the caller ID shows up the phone doesn't give you an option to redial using 1 first. For example, when my mom would call from Florida her number would only come up with the area code and the number, not the 1 for long distance. So needless to say that was pretty annoying. I had to keep looking up her number. Yes I could have programmed it into the phone but who has the time when you have a 2 yr old pulling at your leg all day.

Problem #2: Depending on where I was standing in my house I would lose reception. Actually I could hear the person on the other end but they couldn't hear me. It was like the old commercial for cell phones, ..."Can you hear me now?". So frustrating when you get better reception from your cell phone than your land line phone.

Problem #3: Way too light. I would drop this phone all the time. My son would practically throw it across the room.

Problem #4: The model I purchased didn't have a speaker phone on the base. It also did not include a keypad on the base. So if you couldn't fine the phone quick enough you couldn't use the base to answer the call. My old Motorolla did have these options and it was wonderful.

After about 2 weeks of hating this phone and complaining every time I used it I finally searched my house up and down and found the receipt. I returned it to Target and bought myself the new Panasonic. I will let you know how I like that one in a different review.

If you purchase this phone please keep the receipt. You'll see in about 2 weeks (if that long) you will end up returning this "cool" looking phone.
