Author's Review
Veggie Tales are so much better than Barney, especially for the parents. When watching BARNEY, you have to hear all those same, old, songs. The songs you hear so many other places. In contrast, Veggie Tales, is unique. The writers have written their own lyrics, and music. It is entertaining for Mom and Dad, and the kids. How many DadsÂ’ enjoy watching Barney with their kids? Yet, my husband watches Veggie Tales with our kids, and he sings along.
My kids love this video, "THE END OF SILLINESS?". This video is so cute because it is a sing along, and a story. You see Archibald Asparagus, is scheming to end Silly Songs with Larry. He can't stand all that silliness, and the Cebu incident was the last straw. This tape starts us with Larry sad and alone in a diner, missing his Silly Songs. Is this "the end of the silliness"? Well, you will just have to watch to find out.
This tape includes many cool songs. I especially like the song, "His Cheeseburger." Which I might add, my son does a great, job singing this song himself. "His Cheeseburger", is a song about a poor little gord, who wants a cheeseburger but gets to "Burger Bell" right after they close. Will he make it, "waiting at the drive-thru till sunrise"? With lyrics like, "and if the world suddenly ran out of cheese", you can't lose.
My friend, another Mother of a Veggie Tale kid, likes "The Thankfulness Song," the best. This song is so cute, and does help kids remember to be thankful. I love how the creator's of Veggie Tales, slipped that lesson in with all those silly songs, on this tape. My friends likes that her two-year-old son is learning to be Thankful when he watches Veggie Tales, but that is not all he is learning. He can tell you name of just about any vegetable, (I mean their traditional name and their Veggie Tale name), and he has learned a lot of colors, too.
I bought my kid's this Veggie Tale video at Aldi's. I paid only $7.95. You can also buy them at Wal Mart, Miejers, K Mart, or probably just about any discount store for around, $9.95. If you can't find the tape you want at any of these stores, than you can check you local Christian Bookstore. I have priced Veggie Tale tapes at many of the Christian Bookstores in my area, and they are almost always around 15.95.
I don't know what made the creator's at Big Idea think of vegetables, as characters for children's video. I am just glad they thought of it, so that my family can listen to a singing cucumber and tomato, instead of an annoying dinosaur.
