Good phone but has its problems

Date of Review:  Oct 13, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you really need a 5.8ghz, 2-line phone now buy this phone. Its the best currently available. If you can wait, the competition might come up with something better.
Review: I bought this phone (and 4 additional handsets) about 1 month ago to replace a 2.4ghz siemans 2400 phone that was experiencing interference from a neighbors wireless lan. See below for info on wireless lan interference with cordless phones.

You Can Phone Home About The Uniden TRU8866 Cordless

Date of Review:  Jul 3, 2005
The Bottom Line: Very simply, I LOVE this phone. It's easy to use, has many features and boasts great sound quality. I use the handsets on speaker phone almost exclusively.
Review: I've had two lines in my home for as long as I can remember. But it's been years since I had a multi-line telephone.

Having recently moved into a larger loft, I needed more phones and I felt it was time to move beyond having multiple...

Uniden 2-line 5.8Ghz phone not quite there yet

Date of Review:  Aug 20, 2004
The Bottom Line: No flexibility in location of powered speakerphone (and only one allowed) and resulting impact on signal range render the phone unusable. No DnD per handset very inconvenient.
Review: Needless to say, I was very excited when Uniden released the TRU8866 5.8Ghz 2-line phone. I've been waiting for a 2-line cordless phone in this frequency range to avoid interfering with my wireless network for some time. In many ways, the phone is...

90% of a perfect phone

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2004
The Bottom Line: I'd buy this phone again for its build quality, features and ease of use, despite a couple of voice performance issues.
Review: Overall, I have been pleased with this phone, particularly on usability and build quality. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The range has been fine, with signal degradation only on the back balcony (only 40 feet away from the base...

Best of the options but has it's problems

Date of Review:  Jun 13, 2005
The Bottom Line: If you need a two-line, 5.8GHz phone, this is currently the best bet. If you don't, it's still worth considering but there may be better options.
Review: I've started working out of my home a lot more and so I needed a better telephone set up. I switched on of my lines to VOIP and bought this phone. So far, despite a few problems, it's been a very good phone. But there wasn't a lot to choose from --...

Very good phone with some quirks

Date of Review:  Dec 26, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a multi handset phone this one is worth looking at. If you are thinking up upgrading you need to consider what you might be losing.
Review: My current Siemens 2400 phone system was starting to get flaky so I was in the market for a new phone. I zeroed in on the 8866 sine I needed support for 2 lines, at least 5 handsets, and phone company voicemail. Reviews looked good so I bought a...

So Close and Yet So Far...

Date of Review:  Dec 6, 2004
The Bottom Line: If your needs include Chain Dialing, find another phone. If not then consider this model - it is a strong performer.
Review: I found the perfect phone for a work-at-home arrangement - or so I thought.

Uniden phones have always been "the" cordless phone for me - oh, sure, I dallied with the good-looking Sony in the mid-90s but when its batteries could be revived...

Good all-round phone

Date of Review:  Feb 6, 2006
The Bottom Line: This is a solid phone for home office use.
Review: Bought this phone when our previous corded 2-line phone gave up the ghost in an electrical storm, which was fine as both my wife and I hated that thing (it was GE, seemed really nice when we bought it, but the software in it was seriously buggy)...

Great System, Good Price

Date of Review:  Jan 15, 2005
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a full featured, expandable phone system.
Review: This phone, along with the three satellite TCX860 handsets I installed at the same time, has been working great. Just over a month ago I ordered the 8866 to replace four other aging 2.4GHz phones - three Panasonics and one Sony, all 900MHz phones...

From the frying pan to the fire.

Date of Review:  Oct 13, 2007
The Bottom Line: Avoid Uniden. Phones are phones, but if you have problems, you want someone who can help.
Review: We replaced an nearly identical Uniden System with this after we lost two handsets during the move.

We moved into a house more than double the size of our old house, not to mention having a garage. Not every space in the house had a phone...
