Author's Review
I've had my Toshiba for about 2 years now and I couldn't be more delighted. When you have the correct setup (in other words, HD-television, digital cable, and a fiber-optic set-up with your DVD player), the television is crystal clear, vibrant, bright, and beautiful!!!
We did have to get a new lamp within the first month, but that was supplied to us at no charge through Toshiba since we bought the set brand new and it was still under warranty. I have not had to deal with the same issues as others, I know for certain I've watched well over 300 hours of television in the past 2 years, and my Toshiba's lamp is still going strong and my television is still vivid and bright.
We have had to reset the factory settings twice to get the HD channels (such as CBS to get the Superbowl a couple years back), but that is minor compared with all the other positives.
The set itself is incredibly user friendly with its menus and for being as mammoth as it is, the set is so light that two people can lift it easily onto the base (sold separately).
I have wonderful things to say about the set itself, and the customer service/tech support when I had to get my lamp replacement. (And the speed... WOW... I had my replacement lamp in 2 days... so if you do need to get something from the company itself, Toshiba is absolutely on the ball.)
The base is well worth the purchase, as it matches the television (of course), and is capable with a little modification of hiding all cords from view.
