Product Review

TomTom A Go

by   burtmail ,   Oct 2, 2005

Pros:  Ease of use. And ease of use.

Cons:  Must orient carefully for visibility.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I tired three Garmins and a Magellan. My primary requirement was intuitive interface which the two famous manufacturers are decidedly NOT. If you are looking for something an intelligent person can take out of the box and start using early in the same century, the TomTom is vastly superior to the Garmins and Magellan. Absolutely no comparison. You can bang in a current location and store it (touch tone screen to tap) or you can load an address (also with a sequence of touches) and save as "Favorite." Once "Favorites" are saved, you touch the "Navigate To" icon, then the "Favorite" icon then scroll and touch to one of the saved "Favorites."...In the setup you have chosen your language (presumably English) etc. Set the thing up so it can receive a signal... I am a retired electrical engineer with advanced degree in applied math. I could not abide by the steep, cumbersome use curve in the Garmins and Magellans. Do yourself a sanity favor and select the TomTom.
