Shakespeare was meant to be seen and heard!!!

I had never seen or heard much about Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus, But may I say I loved this film. A modern adaptation of this play starring the stunningly brilliant Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Alan Cumming. It combines Modern and Roman motifs and succeeds in creating an atmosphere of terror and brillience. Shakespeare’s words are meant to be heard and seen, not read, and the direction and cinematography are fabulous. From stark crossroads showing the life of Titus, to bogs which promote fear in a scene where Marcus finds his niece, the detail in costume and scenery is powerful and magnificent. This is a film that is very artistic and powerful in symbolism.

This has to be one of my favorite films of all time. Now if you do not know the story of Titus Andronicus I recommend this movie, but be warned, it is not a light hearted comedy. You will not walk away from this feeling all bubbly inside. It is a dark tale with a painful ending, but it is masterfully executed. Shakespeare comes alive!!! RENT IT!!!
