Author's Review
The Tiny Love Symphony-in-Motion Farmyard Mobile was given to me by my sister in law when I was pregnant. She said she had one and both of her boys loved it as infants. I have to say I was skeptical it looked like something a doctor would use to hypnotize someone. I little crazy looking. But I accepted it.
It is easy to attack to the standard cribs. You do need to screwdriver to get the batteries in and out, but most baby toys which require batteries are like that so that there is no risk of them falling out and being a chocking hazard for baby. I had it up and ready within five minutes of getting it out of the box.
With the push of a button the cute little animals start spinning around and the classical music starts playing. It is designed so that not only do the whimsical animals go around but up and down, and they also spin on their own because of a cute little counterweight ball attached on the other side of every animal. It really is amazing how much this thing moves!
There are three different songs, and with the push of a button you can choose which one you want to listen to. Bach, Beethoven, or Mozart. If you dont chose any it just cycles through them. I love that unlike most other mobiles this one doesnt need wound up its all press and play. No need to run back into the room and re-wind the mobile.
My new baby boy doesnt sleep in his crib just yet. He sleeps in his bassinette next to Mommy and Daddys bed the bassinette doesnt allow for any mobiles, so it is attached to his crib in his room. Sometimes he takes naps in there, or put him in there when I need a little break. I must say I am truly amazed at how much he loves this mobile.
When I lay him down on his back and turn this mobile on he is instantly amazed almost hypnotized by it. He just loves looking at the little animals going around. He will lay there and just want it for 10 minutes (which is a long time for a new Mommy)
I dont think he really cares about the music though. And the music doesnt sound too classical; in fact it is hard to tell one song from another. I think he would be just as happy hearing me sing to him actually happier. I think what dazzles him is the colors which are very high contrast.
Of course he didnt care for the mobile too much until he was just over a month old. I believe this is because his eye sight wasnt that good yet and he couldnt see it. But now that he is 2 months old he loves it.
This is supposed to stimulate babys development with eye sight, which is a nice little perk. But again, the best part is that it soothes him, and makes him quite down right away no matter how fussy he is. After about 10 minutes he does seem to get bored by it or distracted, but it is almost always good for 10 minutes of quite time.
I would recommend this for every new parent it is the best mobile in my opinion I did get other traditional mobile from someone else while pregnant, and he likes it, but not as much as this one. plus it requires winding. But it is a good backup for when these batteries run dry (Ive been using it every day for a month and still no sign of that by the way). It can be found at amazon.com for $39.99, not too bad at all. And it makes a great baby shower gift.
