The GE27980 cordless phone and clock radio is a nice, space saving device for the night stand. The phone's ringer is adjustable and reasonably pleasant. The ability to connect other devices, such as an MP3 or CD player are convenient. The display is big enough to see across the room and its light's brightness is adjustable. The footprint of the unit is smaller than many clock radios; it inclusion of a cordless phone makes it even more space efficient. The clock will set itself, if you have caller ID; by setting the control to "auto set," the phone will retrieve the time data sent by the phone company between the first and second ring of any call. Setting the alarms, there are two, is straight-forward; you can set the alarm to be a buzzer or the radio, the radio station to go off to, the volume of the music, and the length of time it will go off before turning itself off. Each alarm can be set to its own time, station, volume, and duration. The phone has caller ID and saves around 40 of the previous calls. When a call comes in, the ID information is displayed on the clock and then transferred to the handset. When any phone in the house is being used, a "line is busy" note is shown on the display.
