This is a 4 disc DVD set that contains the first 2 seasons of the shows which includes 28 episodes. There are 2 commentaries on each disc for different episodes. I would not recommend watching these as they don't really give any new insight or comedy to the episode itself.

About the Show

The show is set in Quahog, Rhode Island and is about a family of five, the Griffins. It is very similar to the Simpsons in that it involves the antics of the father of the show separately from the children and then brings them all together at the end of the show. It also incorporates much more toilet humor than the Simpsons and is a lot more politically incorrect. The banter between Stewie, the power hungry baby, and Brian, the family's talking dog, makes up for some momentary lapses in the constant laughter the show emits.

My Opinion

If you are a big fan of the Simpsons, then you will love Family Guy. It is a more extreme version that pushes the comedy edge further than the antics of Homer.

These episodes are not well suited for children and they really wouldn't get most of the jokes anyways. But if you are looking for a good laugh and some toilet humor, this is the place to go.

This show is currently being aired on Cartoon Network at night and there are rumors that it may be picked up and continued by the same network, but so far nothing has come of that. It is worth buying the DVD because there are episodes, much like the Simpson, that are funny even after watching them many times over.
