Author's Review
The Black Parade is explained by one word, amazing. My Chemical Romance had releasd two cds before this (Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love) which were both very good as they were but My Chemical Romance topped both of those with this album.
The Black Parade opens with "The End", a short but sweet song that starts with the sound of a heart activity detector and the lines "Come one, come all to this tragic affair". The song ends in about 1:45 and goes to the song "Dead!", which has great guitars and amazing production.
"This Is How I Dissappear" begins next and then "The Sharpest Lives" which starts with I think it's a bass but I don't know and has a little bit of a different sound and tune to it that doesn't really sound like My Chemical Romance but it's still one of my favorite songs on the album.
Next is "Welcome To The Black Parade", the first single on the cd that starts with piano and frontman Gerard Way singing the lyrics, "When I was a young boy, my father took me into the city to see a marching band", which is the plot of the Black Parade. (See at the bottom to get that story) "I Don't Love You" is next with a sort of sad mood.
"House Of Wolves" then starts with a, I guess you could say, jazzy beat. "Cancer" starts and is also a very sad song. (If you go to youtube and search My Chemcial Romance Cancer $2 Bill Concert watch the audience and you'll know what I mean.)
"Mama" fades in next with the sound of explosions, i think. This song also features Liza Mennelli as the character Mother War near the end. The next song, "Sleep" is definitley a magical song with amazing guitars and vocals.
"Disenchanted" starts with a soft guitar and is also a "magical song" and is one of my favorite overall songs. "Famous Last Words" is the second single off of the cd and the video was released just recently. The video is great and at the end the drummer, Bob Bryar burns his leg and had to spend time at the hospital. On track 14, if you wait about 1:30 the secret track comes on called "Blood" which the music is played with a piano but Way goes with the more "comedic approach" in the lyrics.
If you're wondering what the name The Black Parade means or what The Black Parade is, the story is about a kid who gets cancer and dies. Death comes to him in the form of a parade. Gerard Way says, "I like to think that when you die death comes to you however you want it to, and when this kid was little his dad took him to see a parade and that was his best memory".
This cd is a must have for anyone. It is a guaranteed classic cd. I have all 4 of their cd's (if you count the live DVD/CD Life On The Murder Scene) and this one is going to be hard to top. My Chemical Romance has been compared to Green Day and even Nirvana.
The track listing is:
1. The End
2. Dead!
3. This Is How I Disappear
4. The Sharpest Lives
