Beautiful Watch!
Date of Review: Dec 29, 2007
The Bottom Line: Rugged but classy watch you can wear with a suit, at a ball game or on the links. This is a stunning time piece!
I purchased this watch 12/07 in large part due to the rave review of a friend who also owns one. I was very close to a purchase of the Tag Carrera when I saw this "Link" in the display case. Important to note that the Link Chronograph is close to $1K more than the Carrera but when you see them next to one another you will know why! The Link Auto is a rugged, substantial but very classy looking watch. The Carrera while also a beautiful piece is smaller and appears and feels more delicate. The dark metallic gray face on the Link one was more than I could bare. If you are on the fence, go check one out. Pictures don't come close to doing justice to this watch!
It has been such a short time since my purchase of this watch I can't give a fair account of the performance. What I was told about this watch by my pal who has owned one with a black face since May 07 is as follows: The link band and the polished bezel around the face/crystal scratch fairly easily. It is not much problem to have these light scratches buffed out but it has him concerned when and where he wears it. I guess it is to be expected he is more vigilant about damage on this watch vs. his old $350 Swiss Army Chrono. The Crystal is very resilient on the Link and is more scratch proof than the metal band and bezel. Says it keeps good time but added that he has an automatic winder which helps.
