What purpose does this magazine serve?

Date of Review:  Mar 17, 2000
Review: TV Guide seems to exist solely because nobody has bothered to try and compete with it. This lame magazine manages to fail on almost all fronts.

First, its bread and butter, TV listings. I've never cared much for TV Guide's listings, trying...

Past Its Time

Date of Review:  Mar 24, 2000
Review: View the TV Guide Channel instead.

Sorry, TV Guide, but you're just not needed anymore. Certainly not for the price.

TV Guide hasn't changed a lot over the years. They've added a few new gimmicks, like publishing different covers...

See everything thats on TV with TV Guide

Date of Review:  Jul 21, 2000
Review: I can remember a few years ago when TV Guides were about 75 cents and they were something everyone would have. Nowadays you can use Tvguide.com which is free in turn it saves you about 1.79 and issue. TV Guide does offer many features and articles...

New TV Guide is crap

Date of Review:  Oct 16, 2005
Review: TV Guide has been going downhill for quite awhile, but now it is worthless.

There are almost no listings, no vcr codes, missing timeslots, missing channels.

Another peeve. Until the new size, EVERY DAY LISTINGS OF FOODTV had the...

TV Guide--Not As Useful as it Could Be

Date of Review:  Jun 15, 2000
Review: I don't buy the TV Guide very often because I just don't have much time to watch TV. In the last few I have picked up, I noticed a few things that I don't like.

1) The worst thing is the grid. It used to display the prime time hours from...

Not Worth Subscribing To If You Don't Have Cable

Date of Review:  Sep 14, 2000
Review: It seems as though TV Guide has been around forever. The first issue appeared in 1953, a long time ago in ?TV Years?. We always had TV Guide in our house when I was growing up. I loved looking through it to see what shows I wanted to watch. Back...

Tries to do a lot of different things, fails at all of them

Date of Review:  Aug 2, 2008
The Bottom Line: Skip it - you can get the content elsewhere
Review: I remember that I loved the TV Guide when I was a kid. It always seemed to have good information and it was so handy - plus it was easy to find it since it was different than a standard magazine size.

So when I ended up with a free...

I Read It For the Articles Because It's a Lousy TV Guide

Date of Review:  Mar 28, 2007
The Bottom Line: As a TV guide, it's barely better than nothing. But the articles make it well worth reading.
Review: Many of my friends find it hard to believe, but I didn't grow up watching TV. We had one, but it was seldom on. That's one reason I developed my love of reading.

When I graduated from college and was out on my own for the first time,...

What a piece of trash!

Date of Review:  Oct 23, 2001
The Bottom Line: Why does my Wife subscribe to this thing? It's an absolutely worthless and pointless piece of garbage. Heck, it's even hard to decipher program listings in it.
Review: Oh, how I hate TV Guide. You'd think the name of the thing revealed it's purpose -- to allow one to find what's on television quickly -- but that's not the case at all. No TV Guide is something else entirely, but I'll get to that later.
