Author's Review
Time Magazine has been in our house as long as I can remember, and that is longer than I care to admit. We are news junkies. We watch the news as often as it is on tv. We read two newspapers per day. We listen to the news at breakfast and dinner. So why do we need Time Magazine?
Well, the articles are well written and in depth. Some say it has a liberal slant which seems strange as we are very conservative people. Especially interesting to me are the pages of Letters to the Editor. You can hear opposing views on the topics in previous issues.
The photography is excellent. I sometimes wonder how the photographer could be present in order to take the pictures.
The pictures are in beautiful color and add a lot to the printed articles.
Naturally the recent issues are about "The War" and give current and background information. The war has affected so many parts of our lives from politics, charities, health issues, Berkeley U., the courts, the Olympics, and more. They cover the war from so many angles.
There are articles on Business, TV, Show Business, movies, and technology. In the Notebook section you can read short articles if you have just a few minutes. One of these that caught my eye in the Nov. 12 issue is called Headgear 101. It tells about and has pictures of headgear worn in the middle east. It states that the styles often are worn because of the different climates of the area and cultural and tribal mores of the groups. The burka is required for Afghan women by the Taliban, however.
My husband and I prefer reading to watching the sitcoms and other tv shows. By having a well-rounded supply of news sources, we feels we can make more sense of what is going on around the world. Time Magazine is one of the sources we include along with newspapers, tv. and radio news.
I take the magazines over to our church thrift store about every two weeks. They are snapped up almost as soon as they arrive. The name says it all--Time is timely news. You want to read it when the news is fresh. Try it. You'll like it.
