Author's Review
I have played Mario 64 for about 3 years now and I'll tell you: this game is awesome! I have pretty much figured out all there is to know about it, I feel obligated to tell you about it today.
The Plot
You are Mario. You have to travel to lots and lots of different courses, defeating enemies and solving puzzles on your way to finding stars. When you find a certain amount of stars, you are allowed to go through special doors that lead to more courses. In the end, you fight Bowser a total of 3 times and win.
The game can also be played another way. If you find all 120 stars in the whole game, a cannon outside the castle (where all the courses are) opens up and launches you to the roof, where you find Yoshi, who gives you 100 extra lives. You are also able to do a special new triple jump. Sounds complicated? Don't worry; you will get the feel for the game in no time!
Graphics
4 words. The Graphics are lame. If you have ever seen this game in the Mall or any other place, you would know that Mario 64 has very lame graphics. The worlds are basically squares, of different sizes, that form shapes. Nothing in the game has rounded corners or even any detail. You can tell it was the first game made for the Nintendo 64.
Sound
The sound in this game is a very poor quality. It is just a bunch of beeps that surprisingly make a song. Plus, the songs are not the most interesting I have ever heard. If you love sound, this game isn't for you.
Playability
The feeling of the controls in the game is amazing! You can move anywhere you want to in a level with no difficulty. Sometimes, you see games where you have to move with the yellow buttons and it just bugs me. With this game, you feel unrestricted in movement. Almost like flying even if you just happen to be flying via wing cap.
Replay Value
Sorry to say, this game does not have much replay after you beat it; all you can do is the same thing. Even though the game lasts for a very long time, I have never won the game twice because I can't find a reason to.
Bugs in the Programming
I can't tell you much in this area except that I have had no problems with the game.
Analysis
Basically, Mario 64 is the best game to buy if youre a beginner to the Nintendo 64.
