Author's Review
All of the years that we have been married, my wife has been an avid baker. She loves to bake more than cook and she is always the one in the office to bake for co-workers birthdays. Some of the goodies that she is fond of baking include cookies, cakes, pies and even peanut butter eggs for Easter. She bakes something at least twice a week and sometimes has enough to feed a small army. During the holidays, she bakes at least six different types of cookies and makes several dozen of each to give away as gifts to friends and family. Over the years we have tried unsuccessfully to find a good hand mixer that would stand up to the kind of use that my wife was going to put it through. We even have a KitchenAid stand-up mixer, but the bowl is too small for her huge batches of cookies. She has burned up so many different brand and models of hand mixers that they are too numerous to mention. Right before the holiday season this past year, we found a new victim for her to put through the paces of her mixing needs. The Sunbeam 250 Watts Heritage 2547 Hand Mixer had the promise of enough power and all of the features and attachments that we were looking for.
The perfect mix of power and features.
This hand mixer has six speeds and 250 watts of power. The speed is controlled by a thumb switch on the top of the handle which also doubles as the attachment release. Behind this switch is the power burst button which gives extra added power for those tough mixing jobs. The mixers handle is nicely shaped and very comfortable to grasp. This mixer comes with a holder base and three different types of attachments. The base is also doubles as storage for all of the attachments and the cord coils for storage on the side. All three attachments fit into a handy drawer in the bottom of the base. The attachments include: Chrome beaters, Dough Hooks, and Whisks. Overall size of the mixer is 11-1/6 by 11-2/3 by 9 inches and the cord measures 5 feet long. This mixer also has two types of rests, a heel rest for adding ingredients and a bowl rest for mixing ease.
Powerful Multi-featured Mixing Come True.
This mixer has no shortage of features or power to suit my entire wifes baking tasks. It is in our minds, the best hand mixer on the market. The power burst button greatly adds to the power of the mixer for mixing big, tough batches of cookie dough or mashed potatoes. Adding the base makes this mixer completely self contained for easy storage or keeping on your counter top like we do. The silvery Stainless Steel color matches nicely with our other appliances. As expected my wife uses the dough hooks most often for cookie dough and their addition adds to this mixers value for us. The other attachments are also very handy. This mixer is not at all heavy and the 5 cord allows us to use this mixer almost anywhere in our kitchen.
One Small Complaint.
There is only one thing that has been a small problem with this mixer. The placement of the release for the attachments on the speed control makes it hard to release the attachment sometimes. The release is a bit hard to push and sometimes your finger has a tendency to slip off of it.
All in all: We have not found a better hand mixer for our uses on the market. My wife and I are completely satisfied with this mixer and it does a wonderful job of mixing large batches of dough and other items. Power is never a problem and finding all of the attachments is easy with the storage drawer. Bakers, cooks and even someone just looking for a gift, you can not go wrong with this hand mixer. It will completely satisfy your needs and if given as a gift, will make you a friend for life. There is nothing quite like finding the perfect tool for the job and this hand mixer is that tool for my wife.
