2005 Subaru Baja Turbo

Our requirements for a new vehicle were tough. 1., It had to be able to be flat towed behind our motorhome. 2. It needed off road and truck like abilities. 3. It needed to be fun to drive. Not much out there that fills the bill. Others cars owned: Porsche Carrera and '03 Audi Allroad. After driving either one of those, most everything is a luke warm experience at best. The Baja Turbo was a big surprise.The boxer turbo with the five speed is a real hoot. Between the variable valve timing and the turbo boost, there is always enough power on hand. The all wheel drive with the locking rear differential is almost up to the Audi Quattro standard in terms of traction and seamless operation. The bed is very useful, despite some media critics opinions. Recently I moved VERY heavy machine tool parts (500-900pounds) with no trouble. Home Depot trips on the weekends are as easy as they were with my GMC Sierra short bed.Yes, 4'x8' plywood required roof racks, but how often do you do that? Our first Sube, but won't be the last. This thing is a riot to drive, very practical as a family truckster, and will blow the doors off of almost anything at a stoplight.
