Author's Review
When it came time to buy a new car, I searched for an affordable vehicle with excellent safety ratings. Being that my husband has a long commute to work, and we're often transporting precious cargo (our baby daughter), we wanted to make sure this new car was close to perfect. After doing the research on smaller SUV's I went to drive a 2002 Forester and I was hooked.
Built on a car chasis, the steering is tight and the ride is smooth. But, the height of the vehicle allows for wonderful visibility. When driving, you sit up slightly higher without feeling like you're driving a big vehicle. Purchasing the car through autobytel.com was a wonderful experience. We paid 1% over invoice with no haggling what-so-ever. We purchased the S-model and the perks are great.
Heated front seats with the flip of a switch are wonderful for when you first get in the cold car. The heat on the seats and throughout the car kicks on quickly without being blown with cold air first. The 6-disc cd changer is a nice touch and the stereo system overall is really nice. It also includes a tape deck which is an added bonus. The keyless entry with panic button and alarm is convenient when you have your arms full, and that's just the beginning.
The crash-test ratings are tops for this model, but the chances of having an accident in the snow that's your fault are slim to none. During a recent snow storm, we confidently drove without slipping once, while other cars slid around everywhere.
If you're looking for a reliable, safe, and affordable car, the Forester 2002 model is the car for you.
