Stargate: To Hell with the Prime Directive!

This movie leaves a few answers in the end. One is if the humans from earth will return to this place. If they did what would happen? The first Mc Donaldson the other side of the portal.
All kidding aside, this movie is great! They do meddle with the culture on the other side pretty heavily. Teaching them relatively about how to use firearms, lighters, and other things. Revealing that their "gods" were in fact mortal aliens with high technology.
This threw out the Star Trek kind of Prime Directive right out the window.
The instances where the military folks were being whiped out like flies was reminiscent of the Aliens movies. The fact that they were being assimulated into Ra's army reminded me somewhat of Star Trek's Borg.
The look of Ra himself reminded me of a vampire which could be in a way what he was. He needed a human host to survive cause "Humans bodies are so easily repaired" The haircuts on the children seemed to be of the right type for Egyptian culture. (Though I am a historian Egyptian culture is not my specific area of expertise.) Also the fact that Ra and his children were playing a form of chess or checkers was very correct for both these games are said to have originated in Egypt originally.
In the end the nerd type fellow played by James Spader has to get the guts to save his wife whom he unknowingly marries on the alien planet. And Colonel Jack O'Neal has to get over his fear of kids having guns and in a way adopts the kids he is fighting for as his own. There is even today speculation on if indeed Egyptians had some sort of flying machines. This controversy is fed by a few models found in the tombs which even now do fly as gliders. This movie answers the question of what if indeed the egyptians not only had this flying technology but also other high technology, and if the paintings on the tombs were not stylized animals but in fact... the real thing!!!
