Author's Review
Soul Blade is a wonderful game which has made the transition from the arcade, (Then named SOUL EDGE), with flying colors. With a wide variety of fighting skills and weapons to master, along with multiple modes of play, this game is the jewel of weapon aided 3-D combat.
Sound: The opening intro says alot here. Lots of effort went into the design of the sound tracks to this game. The music is superb. Multiple endings are also combined with speech to create a fuller ending effect not seen in other similar games like the Tekken series. Effects and background music are sweet.
Graphics:
Graphically, the image rendering of the fighters is virtually polygon free and very realistic for a 3-D environment. Wonderful Backgrounds, Arenas, and Full Motion Video are found throughout. Tons of weapons available for use in the game are each well designed and detailed.
Control: The controls are smooth and fighting flow is quite realistic. Moves are able to be performed with skill relative to the damage inflicted. Combos are well designed and throw moves are also easy to perform.
Fun Factor: You'll want to play until you get arthritis...stop for a trip to the drug store, and you'll be back for more I promise. Wonderful endings and multiple modes of play make replay value skyrocket. If you like fighting games, don't let this one give you the slip.
