Product Review

Been working fine for years

by   hgsnotes ,   May 7, 2008

Pros:  Been working great for years. Very fast tape rewind.

Cons:  Kind of slow starting a disk, but fine once it's running.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Seems all the reviews lately were negative with breakdowns, that's fair. But alot of people only write reviews because it brokedown. We have had ours for at least a few years and have had no issues. I bought it because our Panasonic HTIB dvd player quit showing picture, just sound. So I bought this to replace the broke dvd and our older, but working vgr (needed the space). I still use the HTIB for playing the sound.

We use this almost daily. Mostly for dvd's. I guess it's possible that my early version was better built than more recent ones. I just hope it lasts long enough for the HD or Blu-ray dvd players to come down in price.

Finding a replacement remote can be tricky. We had to send a new remote in for programming because none of the codes worked for the replacement. A sony replacement is very expensive. Of course we found the original months later.
