Author's Review

I found the DVD/VRC easy to connect to my TV. It has a auto clock set feature that worked for me. This unit would work even on old TVs that only have a cable input.

It comes with a universal remote control but its control would not control my Emerson TV. From the instructions, I counted that the remote has only 19 different codes.

Programming the VCR is difficult. You cannot use the number keys on the remote to select the channel, date or time. Instead you have to use the arrow keys. This is really annoying if the VCR was on channel 5 and you want to record channel 60! I get around this by changing the channel to the one I want to record before I go to the program screen but there is nothing I can do to get around having to use only the arrow keys to select the date and time. Also, when you first turn the unit on you cannot get into the program screen. It tells you to wait. I have no idea why! It will hold 8 programs in memory. Also, it will remember the programs even if the electricity has been out so you will not have to reinput them when you have power outages. Found this out after yesterday's ice storm.

The DVD player works fine but there is a delay in menus showing on the screen. There is a noticeable pause from the time you select menu until the menu appears. I do like how this DVD player will play video CDs (VCDs). I looked at many new DVD players that for some reason will not play VCDs. This was an important feature to me since I use several pieces of computer software that creates VCD's. For example, my wife just got scrapbook software that lets you create VCD scapbooks. The DVD player also will play all the DVD formats except DVD-ROM. It will also play MP3 CDs.
