Product Review

Disappointing

by   out4thecount ,   Nov 16, 2005

Pros:  The DVDs DO fit in the drawer.

Cons:  It IS a Sony with all that wonderful customer service.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this DVD recorder because of its advertised compatibility - I wanted to record DVDs and send them to my kids in the service. My hope was that I could record from the cable box to the GX315 and dupe the resulting DVD on a computer. I should mention that these are legitimate OTA broadcast shows. The problem is that the DVDs may or may not play on a computer, and worse yet may or may not play on either of the kid's DVDs. BTW, the DVD burner in the computer is a SONY and I have tried an expensive variety of software and disks to achieve my goal.

If you're buying this DVD recorder for a similar purpose, BE CAREFUL! I don't know if other DVD recorders are more compatible with other players and computers than this one, but I'm going to find out.
