Product Review

Impressive!

by   novida ,   Apr 9, 2007

Pros:  Post-calibration picture is great, even on non-HDTV channels!

Cons:  Splurge, again, for a great external audio system for improved sound!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

This is the best alternative to Sony's XBR series.

Picture calibration is required. You have to be patient and spend some time tweaking and calibrating the settings for your specific viewing environment. There are many helpful forums with hints posted by other 46V2500 owners. The most helpful forum I've found is the Sony V2500 Calibration and Reference Information forum available at the following URL:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=743609&page=1&pp=30.

I recommend you splurge for the HDMI-to-HDMI and/or DVI-to-HDMI cable(s) Not only will it reduce the amount of cables hanging off the back of your TV, the picture quality in significantly better than what you get with a composite cable.

The unit also works great as a computer monitor!

Bottom line: You have to be sure that your source is capable of full HD, 1080p output. Otherwise, even the best rated set won't satisfy.
