Sonic Adventure 2-It's good.
Date of Review: Jul 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: Fun rent it for 5 days or so, until you beat it. Not worth paying 50 bucks for unless your a die hard Sonic fan.
Sonic adventure 2 the last Sonic game for any Sega system. It's a stong game in many ways. And weak in some others.
Lets start with the graphics... amazing, far better than the second. There were a couple camera problems, and a few glitches here and there (hardly noticable)
Then we have the gameplay, which for Sonic and Shadow, is just all out fun... Sonic wears Soap shoes even, so he can grind down rails and all that. And Shadow skates around on some futuristic inline skates, he can also grind. Then we get to the other four characters, Tails which all Sonic fans know, same with Knuckles and Robotnik, then theres a new character Rouge the bat, who plays just like Knuckles, who plays just like he did in Sonic Adventure 1, boring. Same with Tails and Robotnik, they play just like E-101 or whatever his name was, the robot in the first one... also boring, although better than Knuckles and Rouge.
The story is pretty good, I like the whole Chaos Control thing, which you can really only take advantage in multiplayer. Robotnik, plays a much eviler bad guy also, I mean he's trying to blow up entire cities with a Austin Powers 2 style satelite gun.
The script, was ammusing. I shyly let out a few chuckles, at corny remarks in the game... I felt a little childish, but I don't care too much, they were clever. And the acting, isn't quite as bad as the first, again Sonic's really the only one that's convincing, Shadow's pretty good too.
Another complaint I have is theres no Super Sonic, god that made me angry (damn language filters)
Overall, it's fun. Beating it is a must if you play the first level, because you'll need to know what happens next.
