What do you do when you have an electronic devise with a missing power cord? That was exactly the question we had several years ago when we found ourselves a new Sony digital camera as well as an old Camcorder. Of course we had a plethora of A/C adapters scattered throughout the house, but not one that would fit the pieces we needed. The main concern was the Sony as we knew the lithium batteries wouldn't last forever. Sony chargers are in short order and when you do find them, they are almost as expensive as the camera. We had found a universal adapter kit (I cannot remember the brand on that one), which worked well until we the piece for our camera got lost while we were on vacation. So when we ran across the Sima Universal Power Adapter for approximately $40 we had to snatch it up.
10-for-1
Specifically designed for digital cameras and camcorders, The Sima Universal Power Adapter is actually 10 adapters in one. The set contains the A/C plug, a converter box and 10 separate plugs. Each plug is approximately 1" and it simply plugs into the receptor and then your device. This kit is perfect for the Sony user as it includes four Sony Specific adapters.
Included adapters:
4.0mm
4.75mm
2.35mm
Sony L/M
Sony S/C
Sony F/C
Sony A/P/F
JVC AP-V
Female USB Tip
Micro USB Tip (5V only)
Camera... Cell Phone... Camcorder...
With all these tips, which one to use? The directions also include a huge conversion chart showing exactly device takes which tip and the setting to use. That micro USB tip is made to fit most cell phones as well, which is nice if you forget your cell charger somewhere - or get a faulty one like ours. If for some reason the output gets set too high, the device does have a power surge protection so your device doesn't get zapped.
Charge It!
Inevitably A/C adapters disappear and in the case of Sony products some devices do not come with a charger. The Sima Universal Power Adapter is really easy to use. After we bought it we attached the Sony L/M tip and plugged the camera right in and within a few hours it was ready to capture more memories. I also made sure we bagged up the rest of the tips so we didn't lose any. The pieces fit together very well and I have not experienced the tip being loose, which was the problem we had with the previous adapter (hence how we lost the previous tip). For $40 we were able to get 10 separate adapters. I've also noticed you can buy this particular adapter online for around $20. I'm sure we won't use all of them, but purchasing just a Sony Adapter would have cost the same amount or more and now we have an adapter for several other devices just in case..
