Author's Review

Purchased my PLV-Z4 about 3 years ago. I wanted a native 720P projector for HD content. I have a small home theater setup in my basement. My decision to purchase this was based on research and the Sanyo and Panasonic seemed to filter to the top. I tended to lean more toward the Sanyo but either would have probably fit the bill. I paid $1500 and at the time there was a promotion that included an extra bulb and a 96" screen...hard to pass up. BTW, I am still on the original bulb 3 years later (probably about 1100 hours at this point). It gets used the heaviest in the Fall for college football games...big hit w/friends. I think these are now selling for $1000 so if you are comparing a projector to a big screen tv I would recommend the projector (if your room is friendly....not too much light). I have a couple of $30 in-wall speakers from Radio Shack which work great and $200 Home Theater Receiver, a $60 progressive scan DVD player, I also ran a video cable to hook my laptop up which I use on occasion. The only feature I would like to have (not sure if anyone has?) is a sleep timer. My daughter has friends sleep over and sometimes fall asleep while watching TV.
