Product Review

A great little camera

by   dhuber23 ,   Apr 26, 2006

Pros:  Great image, durable, easy to use

Cons:  narrow field of view, short cable

The Bottom Line:  I definitely recommend this camera

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

We bought this camera to videoconference with our family after the birth of our first child. It has served its purpose well for the past year.

The image is quite good, especially when compared side-by-side with competing cameras. I recently bought a Creative Labs Live Ultra webcam, and the Logitech image is much better quality. The difference was especially notable on my older computer, which only has USB 1.1.

The camera is pretty durable, as it has been manhandled by our daughter many times. She has even put it in her mouth without damaging it. Considering that she tries to destroy everything she touches, this is a pretty good endorsement.

The software installed with no problems on 3 different computers. We use MSN messenger and have had only a few problems with getting that to work (probably due to bugs in messenger).

The face tracking feature works pretty well provided that you are facing toward the camera.

The main disadvantage is the relatively narrow field of view. It is suitable for a single person sitting at a computer, but it is not so useful for viewing an entire room.

I also feel that the cable is a little too short (about 3 feet). USB extension cable solves that problem.
