Pros:
Sophisticated flavor Smooth finish Beautiful Bottle

Overpriced A tad weak on flavor Cheap box
The Bottom Line:
While it may be a delicious drink to try, I can't say this pricey elixir gave me a life changing experience.

Author's Review
I won't lie, this cognac is truly special and belongs amongst the finest of cognac collections. The question is, does this cognac earn itself a powerful enough reputation to bely its $1500 price tag? I would have to say that despite being some of the finest I have ever tried, there were a few things that I found disappointing. First of all, it is important to understand that this is a BLENDED cognac, not that has to be a bad thing, but it is only as good as the cognacs that it is made from. I must confess that I am more impressed with high end, single barrel cognacs than this blend.
Secondly, the packaging of this spirit was disappointing, while the bottle itself will catch the eyes of many cognac enthusiasts, the box that it comes in is made of cardboard that seems to be cheaply dressed up. For $1500, I would expect better packaging. A drink is about taste, not packaging of course, but I would have rather it come in a simple wood or cardboard box rather than a cheaply adorned box that feels more at home in a flee market.
In the end, I think that every cognac lover needs to try Louis XIII at least once, if for no other reason than to scratch that itch. However, I have found myself enjoying the more robust single barrels even more than the big Remy, at 1/10th the price.
