Have you seen Pretty Woman?

That's what many cinema fans call a great movie! It's a delightful comedy, which reminds us at the same time of Bernard Shaw's immortal Pygmalion and the story about Cinderella as old as the hills and yet forever charming. Neither the film nor it cast has been nominated for an Oscar, but still Pretty Woman found universal favor. Its box-office success splendidly illustrates its public recognition. The film is a shining example of a Hollywood love-story in the classic mold. It creates a romantic mood from the beginning to end with every bit thoroughly enjoyably. The scenario is unpretentious and yet very smart. As Jefrey Katrenberg, the producer of the film says it's across between My Fair Lady and Wall Street.
The main character, Edward Lewis, portrayed by one of the top American Actors Richard Gere, is a prosperous capitalist, a corporate raider who can afford almost every lavishness, but one-giving away his human feeling. He is forced to loosen his emotional reins after he meets a Hollywood boulevard prostitute and employs her for a week for 3000$.
Gere's co-star, Julia Roberts, who is box office attraction by herself, polished her role to perfection. Her juicy, scene-stealing, crazy, energetic character goes about scandalizing high society ladies but through her flat-out vulgarity you can trace a romantic, sensitive soul.
Evidently, it's not sex that motivates Edward Lewis, but the unpredictability, of throwing this rough gem into the high socio-financial mix. The girl is taken from terrible lows to incredible highs.
Of course, the movie can't rank among films of great educational value. Intellectual enrichment is not its goal. But at least the filmmaker had enough taste not to drag out sentimental shots, or to dwell at length on bedroom scenes, or to get down to moralizing. We must justice to the strikingly effective cast, the light but not primitive script, precise and expressive camera work, good musical background. But what really delights the audience is the sense of proportionality, harmony and intimacy left over well after the film.
I've seen this film several times and every time the picture hold my interest from beginning to end and I enjoy every bit of it.
I'm sure the film is made with great skill and the team of actors is beyond all doubts. Both actors possesses the magnetism of stars. The music of the film is really wonderful and many lovely songs will live a long time.
So the film was doomed to be a hit!
