Author's Review

I have been waiting for Pontiac to release this vehicle for several months now. I traded in my 1998 OLDS LSS for the GXP.

I found very limited availability of the GXP in Chicago. I managed to purchase mine for ~1000 under the sticker price.

In the week that I have had the car I am very satisfied so far with the car. I defiantly delivers on the power that it promises however at the expense of fuel mileage. With the 305 HP V8, the sticker claims 19 mpg in the city 27 mpg on the highway. This might be true while your on the road however on average expect more like 16 MPG combined in mostly highway driving. If you spend all your time in cruse control driving 55 on level ground I have no doubt that you can obtain 27 MPG. But if your always on the pedal then forget it.

The driver seat is very comfortable and the sweade inserts are nice but it would be nice if the passenger seat had power. It also would be nice if they would add a seat memory function. The rear seat is not for large adults

The Ventilation controls work ok but I would have like to have more automation like I had in the LSS.

The visibility when backing up could be improved while the forward visibility is fine.

Overall, so far this is a fun practical car with lots of power to spare.
