Don't buy !

The Bottom Line: Don't buy. Active noise cancellation logic is worthless.
It is actually true that noise cancellation can be done either with simple amplification of input signal which more or less the case here and the other way, the right way…
However "right way" part of story is much important that deals with active ambient noise cancellation logic. Main actors: microphone + DSP (or any other logic) that neutralizes the ambient noise. That logic can be very expensive (e.g. Bose are aprox. 250$).
I can't say for the headphones that are best buy because there is no noise cancellation, although I noticed some hole on each headphone perhaps for microphone which could be inside. I couldn't open a headphone (I opened only a box which contains amplifier ic) to see how complex the logic is. - Well, anyway, it does not work. So who cares what's inside?
If I can choose again, I would go with some 150 $ headphones and would invest more time on reading on this subject and comparison. There are quite some helpful reviews on Bose and Panasonic noise cancellation headphones on Amazon as well.
Here are other models that I have read after I bought this model and got disappointed.
My requirements are:
- acceptable price (apparently price must be above 80$) = around 100$
- must have nice slim design (maybe foldable) to ware them in office.
Here are some candidates because of good reviews OR price OR design. I didn't find one model that has comprises all above mentioned (although JVC HANC250 are at least foldable). List is sorted by quality as I concluded from numerous reviews I read, Bose is out of list as it's apparently out of competition:
- Bose QuietComfort 3 (or 2 depends how rich you are) Acoustic Noise Cancelling
- Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones (price)
- Panasonic RP-HC500 Noise-Canceling Headphones (price+somewhat design)
- JVC HANC250 Noise Cancelling Headphones
- Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling (size is ok, quality is too low)
- Sony Mdrnc22 Noise Canceling Headphone (I own these, much better than this philips).
