I've had my Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil (0.5 mm lead) since high school ... and that was many years ago!

The Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil has been on the market for many years. Though it's not one of the super fancy lead pencils currently on the market, it has stood the test of time. The lead pencil can be purchased at office supply stores and retails for approximately $3 - $4. It is available in 0.5 mm (fine), 0.7 mm (medium), and 0.9 (thick) leads.

My Experience
The Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil is an excellent, affordable automatic pencil.

The pencil is comfortable to hold as the barrel is smooth. The barrel is not very thick, so those who tend to grip their writing instruments very tight may experience fatigue soon. My "old" Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil does not have the new rubber cushion grip that is offered by the newer models. I can imagine that a cushion grip would make it more comfortable to hold. The clicker to dispense lead is located on the side of the pencil, making it easier to click with my thumb. I prefer the side clicker location over the usual clicker on the top of the pencil as I find it convenient. What impresses me about the Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil is that it is durable! It has lasted many (many) years and all the components are still functioning smoothly.

The barrel is transparent, which lets users view the amount of lead that is in the barrel. This is convenient as I no longer surprised that I am out of lead. The clear barrel also allows users to view the mechanics of the lead pencil. The Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil is available in a variety of shades in both transparent and solid barrel colors.

Filling the pencil with lead is easy as one just needs to remove the eraser top. The eraser has a metal cup about it, making removal of the eraser much easier. There's a plastic cap that covers the eraser but I lost that many years ago. There are eraser refills, but I tend to use my "stand alone" eraser instead. The Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil takes 0.5 lead and the barrel has the capability to store many sticks of lead.

The only minor problem I've had with the Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil is the tip of the pencil is quite sharp as it is designed to fit the thickness of the lead. The fine metal tip can be quite painful if it accidentally pokes you and can puncture skin.

Overall Thoughts
The Pentel Quicker Clicker Automatic Pencil is an excellent writing utensil that offers durability in a sleek design.
