Pros:
Great Picture, True Multi-Format Recording and Playback.
Cons:
Doesn't come with S-Video cable.
The Bottom Line:
Unit does it all at an affordable price and since it's Panasonic it will probably out-live the DVD technology..

Bought the unit to transition my old VHS to DVD. Decided on this one after quite a bit of research. I was looking for a multi-format model as I don't want to end up with a 'Beta' from the 80's.
Machine will not only play virtually all formats -/+, R/W, RAM etc. it will also record to all of them.
Variety of recording speeds to balance time on DVD with Quality. 1,2 & 4 hour all look perfect and I can't tell a difference between them. 6 hour still looks better than the VCR and 8 hour is about the same as my high quality VCR and is acceptable for watch and erase type recordings.
DVD-RAM is great. You can record, edit, erase, re-record and so on without any loss in quality of picture or sound. It is proprietary to Panasonic so the RAM's won't play in other DVD Players or at least this is what I'm told. But they are great for recording your weekly shows, races, ball games etc. No more rewinding and fast forwarding trying to find a show.
So far all of the recordings I've done have played fine in all of my standard DVD players. Even the cheapy and the one that is older than my kids. You have to 'finalize' the disk and you can't edit it anymore after 'finalization' process.
Tons of Inputs and Outputs. Component, S-video, etc.
Full function remote included that you can use to do anything you want. It will also work the TV/Video, volume, power and channel changing on your TV.
Comes with connection cables and one DVD-Ram disk.
Some folks have complained with problems with finalizing disks but I've done a dozen or so without a single issue. I think the problem is cheap DVD's. I use only TDK and the Panasonic for DVD-Ram.
